The NIT Library is housed in an independent building spread across two floors with a reading area that can accommodate over 100+ Readers. Its collection, development policies and information services are mandated by the Institute's teaching objectives system.
A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital access to material, and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both. A library's collection includes books, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, e-books, databases, and other formats.
The Central library, spread over a vast area in three floors (G+2 floors), which can accommodate over 100 readers, is well organised and creating a quiet space for contemplation and a social atmosphere for knowledge exchange. The library has an enormous collection of national and international books, journals, and other resources in Science, Engineering & Technology, Humanities, Social Science, and Management. The repertoire is in made available in different forms, including printed books, e-books, back volumes, and CDs & DVDs.
A central computational facility equipped with 100 Mbps (scalable as needed) internet connectivity is available for use.
Knimbus, a complete digital library platform for personalised learning and research is made accessible for both faculties and students. Also, the students have the privilege of learning through NPTEL video courses and EDUSAT programs of VTU. The library has the EPG Patashaala, Swayam Program, and other E-Learning ways, initiated by the Government of India. In our library, we use Easylibsoftware for library automation. Also, we use RFID Technology that comes with Self-issue and Return Kiosk and online renewal. Most importantly, the library is well protected with Fire Alarm, Flap Barrier, and CCTV Surveillance.
