“Legal Awareness Programme” Sponsored by NCW, New Delhi.
The Women Empowerment and Grievance Redressal Cell of Navodaya Institute of Technology organized Legal Awareness Programme on 25th February 2020, Sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi.
The objectives of Legal Awareness programme are to
- Impart practical knowledge about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various women related laws, thereby making them fit to face the challenges in real life situations.
- To sensitize men about rights of women.
- To create awareness about the various machineries/organs of the Justice delivery system available for redressal of their problems/grievances.
- The procedure of approaching and utilizing various channels available for the 3 redressal of grievances i.e. the Police, the Executive and the Judiciary.
- The role of Courts in achieving gender equality, most importantly the concept of Public Interest Litigation.
- The role of District Legal Service Authority, Free Legal Aid and Lok Adalats.
The Programme was inaugurated by Dr.C.B.Vedamurthy,SP, Raichur addressed the gathering and guided the girl students to carry women safety gadgets like pepper spray and make use of the OBAVVA PADE control room number 9480803800 during their emergencies and untimely reaching of their destination place.
The second session was handled by Dr.Somanath Reddy, Secretary, Sahayahasta NGO, Raichur who described the Constitutional provisions under Dowry act, and remedies illustrating realistic examples and videos.
